The free registers record what a company is, not who owns it, and the ACCC’s mandatory merger register, published since 1 January 2026, starts at $200 million in combined Australian revenue. A chain of blinds stores does not come close, so the sale of one leaves no public trace. What a buyer can actually check before a deposit moves.

Australia rewrote the blind installer's qualification. Child safety is now a performance criterion.

MSF30926 Certificate III in Shading and Security Screens reached the National Training Register on 13 March 2026. The endorsed unit for installing interior blinds carries a child-safety performance criterion covering corded window furnishings and button batteries. Licensing, which would decide who has to hold it, was ruled outside the review's scope.

Victoria's blind cord rule for rentals: what changed on 1 December, and what it costs

Every corded blind or curtain in a Victorian rental must now be anchored so no loose loop of 220 mm or more can form within 1,600 mm of the floor, whatever its age. The instrument, the advertising offence, the renter's rights, the free hardware, and the government's own costing of the fix.
